hey my fuel lid is always coming loose between fill ups and im sure this is just helping my fuel fumes to escape hence **** fuel economy.. Doesnt help that my fuel tank already has a leak in it.. is there a way to fix this or just go for a new lid??

Do you mean the outer lid, or the one on the fuel tank itself? The leak in the fuel gauge would have much more to do with yout fuel economy. Is it the breathers'or somewhere else? The breathers just mean some new rubber hose, elsewhere will mean taking out the tank and sealing it.

If the problem is your fuel lid, how is your driver's seatbelt? My VN's belt doesn't reel up as quickly as it did new, which means sometimes it hooks itself around the fuel filler door release on the floor.

the seatbelt doesnt go back really without alot of help but its not the problem. its not the door thats annoying me its the cap itself. every 2nd time i go to fill it up its loose which im guessing means its letting the vapors escape.
my fuel tank itself does need to be replaced but i cant go pulling the car apart till i have my rodeo regestered. probabily around a month and a half away.. and all the vapour lines are brand new, less that 2 years old, but ever since i put them in, its a weird car to fill up because the pump always clicks off prematurly all the time.. i think some of them are just snagged or something.. nother job another day..

I suspect that your fuel cap is a dud. Note that when you tighten the cap, it will "click," this is so as to not put it on too tight. The vapours are supposed to go through the carbon canister system, but will vent from the cap in an emergency. A new cap is a fairly cheap thing to replace, about $20 at most auto shops, as they're universal.

One of your breather pipes probably has an internal obstruction; a chunk of rust, a frayed piece of the old line, or just plain kinking. Most of the time the VN fuel gauge can be trusted, and this should be your guide as to whether it's really full
