that has to be bull. I would submit a "spec sheet" of everything you've done to VicRoads, and they should be able to give you a straight answer as to what you can and can't do.

the only problem you would run across would be the motor but if you put an ecotec in anything from vb to vz you wont have a problem as long as any pollution gear that was on the donor car is in your car as motor upgrades (newer motors in older cars) generally wont need to be emissions tested but just in case make sure your cat is in working order and not hollowed out. the interior mods should be ok as long as it is all bolted up tight and all working.

Save a dim sim fry tyres instead.

Most of the time, licencing authorities are only concerned with three basic principles:
1. Is it safe to drive?
2. Does it comply to the design rules for its build date?
3. Does it leak oil, coolant, power steering fluid, or have excess emissions?

There will always be some arbitrary (and sometimes stupid) rules, but if you have written down the specs, and take it to a Vic Roads inspector, they will give you a straight answer if the cops have a problem with your mods. Be grateful you live in Victoria, WA and SA Authorities are no fun when it comes to modified cars.
