well it sounds like its grinding while trying to crank...sounds kinda like its trying to turn the fly wheel but cant grip..starter motor turns...well at lead i think it does as ya can hear it turning...pretty fast (as a motor does when not under load) didnt have time to look today though
it has lowered springs shock that are in ok condition...exhaust (stock) thats looks alright the rear tail lights are brand new, interior is in good nick considering thats most fad all up im happy even if it dont start body wise it has minimal rust...lot less then mine did but does have the drivers side sill (under doors) pushed up a fair bit (very fixable i guess but meh lol
also how do i add pics to this post? im a noob lol haha |

so your getting the grinding noise and its not turning the motor over at all? sounds like the pinion is stuck and not engaging the flywheel, either remove the starter and free it up or just switch it over with a donor. the lowered springs and shocks would come in handy if you want them in your daily or want some extra cash.....
as for the pics i cant remeber, i think i did it once in one of my threads but wouldnt have a clue at this point in time. |

| what colour are the springs? sometimes when the shocks are rooted it appears you have lowered suspension but really its just the shocks sagging |

| undo the kframe, transmission mount, front suspension assembly, assosiated wiring/hoses/etc under the bonet and lift the front of the car up and push the car backwards. make sure you use jackstands and a hydraylic jack though as it will be alot easier and safer |

| your better off stripping any parts you need off the motor without actually taking it out. if the transmission was good then that would be 150 dollars or so you could sell it for. jack the back up and spin the tailshaft by hand(in neutral)listening to the diff for whines. check the fluid to see its condition and theres another easy 150 bucks. anything like dash cluster, seats, rims/tyres, panels, coilpack, leads, etc etc... keep those things for yourself as it will come in handy and wont take up alot of room. seriously what are you going to do with the motor out of it? build a 4.2 twin turbo v6 : ) |

haha yeah true...still tossing up weather to just rip heads and all the top end off and just get rid of ithe rest..like keep auto (not sure how good it is) tail shaft and diff ..the cluster is a series 2 so thats going in me mums car. power steering looks good in it so again in me mums car. air con was recoed not long ago i think ...once again mums car hahaha me mums car need some attention lol. but yeh id say im gonna rips the top end off and keep the goodies ....as the rest is gonna just sit id say and if the day ever comes when i need another engine for mine at least i can pick on up for like 500 at me wreckers thats is guaranteed to be in working order with less then 200 000 on it ..this one has 290 000 and not sure if will start
will talk with me dad and see what he says as we did agree to drop engin out and keep it as one whole but yeh

| well guys gave it a compression test and it showed 175psi in every cylinder....i like lol ....it has crap fuel in it atm so it don't really like that hahah and the rear main leaks on the exhaust and creates a **** load of smoke...lol other then that im now gonna strip it (not engin) and see about replacing gaskets and **** on the engine and that way i have a fairly ok replacement motor for around......(after gaskets) 25 bucks lol |
