The LS was the last VN HSV released and 300 were made.

There were no mechanical upgrades, but it received some interior dress ups (calais wheel, HSV retrim and power pack) and the exterior got parts of the SV3800 body kit. It also had what I'd consider the worst rims HSV ever designed. If you still have the original rims on there, could you pm me about getting some photos?

All the information I found is at http://www.squaredarches.com/vnseries.htm (second last car from the bottom). Thats got price on release, build dates, build numbers and a bit of information about how to identify one and a bit of a history about the release.

That's pretty interesting- those details came from a very reliable source book for HSVs up to 2003.

It should have a HSV build plate which would confirm whether it is the real deal or not. If it doesn't have a HSV build plate and the plate it has states 1989 you might want to get the VIN checked. I'm almost certain there is VIN checkers online at other sites (VKGroup3??).

So the mechanics were inconclusive? I'm almost certain that either brockcommodores.com, justcommodores.com or streetcommodores.com has a link on their forum. If I remember rightly, someone put one together. Without a build plate it wouldn't surprise me if someone just added the dash tag. Does it have a Calais wheel or body kit?

Not sure how to do it at this site- but get a photobucket account and then cut and paste the address of the photo here and add those image tags (one at the beginning and the one with the / at the end).

There was a holden LS version. There is one out at work. Nothing overly flash much like my LE. Just a few more lurks and perks on top of the executive. Could be wrong though.

What's the difference between understeer and oversteer?
Understeer is when the driver is scared.
Oversteer is when the passenger is scared.

I have a vague recollection of a factory LS- possibly a very limited dealer special? But most dealership jobs had no more than 50 made so 77 would be curious aswell.

Quite the mystery ;)

all i can tell you is this... my mechanic mentioned that from factory it has a drop tank, external fuel pump and rare manual... he said he has never seen a vn with a external fuel pump.. why its like that he has no idea but these are the things ive notices different about my car. There has to be a way to find out what this car is...

Don't read too much into things on a VN. Unfortunately being the age they are, most are quite different to how they left the factory.

Have you tried calling HSV? You might be surprised and they might help regardless of age and k's.
