hey guys my vn's leaking power steering fluid every where i found the prob though just cant work out if i can fix it or not

basically the hose that runs from the refill box directly underneath it running to the p/s pump is pumping out fluid from a split.
the only problem is that the hose leads into a smaller metal pipe and there it's fixed on with a metal wrapping that doesnt come off n prob wont go back on. i wanna do it myself but cant replace this pipe
do i need a special tool??
thanks

If its the kind of thing Im thinking of thinking back to the hyraulic work I have seen. It will have that smaller pipe that will continue to run the length of the outer sleave. the inside pipe runs into the hose the outter over the top usually the outer is crimped to hold the hose on the pipe. As Trizo says you should be able to remove the outer sleave and use ahose clamp. The pressure of the power steering wont be high enough to blow the hose off. I wouldnt recomend it on any other application.

If it is on the high pressure side(this is the side with the fittings crimped onto the hose) do not use a hose clamp as it can run between 1350 - 1450 PSI at idle. If it is the low pressure or return side you will have no problems what so ever using a hose clamps.
Send a picture if you can so we can see exactly what you mean.

What's the difference between understeer and oversteer?
Understeer is when the driver is scared.
Oversteer is when the passenger is scared.

how much pressure does a radiator run at? one hose clap holds that. Just divid the presure of the radiator by the presure of the power steering and use that many hose clamps :D rofl :P

@ Trizo - What even the high pressure side of the pump??

@ V8VNCalais - radiator approx 16 - 18 psi at operating temp.

as said there is a low pressure hose and a high pressure hose the low pressure hose is held on buy hose clamps and the high pressure hose(the one that has metal piping and rubber hose) if the high pressure hose is leaking then you will best replace it with the recommend hose (approx 30 + bucks) as if this high pressure hose blows it can get messy and cause a fire...if its the low pressure hose then its a matter of replacing it with the recommended hose as this hose to has some big pressures in it but not as much as the high pressure hose.

ok lol
as far as im hearing hose clamps fix everything haha
ok yes its perminantly crimped by a housing.
what i will do is remove the perminant crimp and get a new pipe as the old one has split and clamp it
its a bastard of a spot though its right under the extractors closets to the engine mount on the drivers side of course. it is a s1 model just for the record also.
thnx ill let u kno how i go.
