the key setup is completely differant, the imobaliser is deactivated in vr onwards models by a little contact point on the side of the key which registers on the ignition barrel when you flick the key...
i mean you could get it to work but might be fiddly...i was even thinking of this myself a few weeks ago, want to be the test pig? |

you do have central locking and remote boot standard, you just need the imobalizer button with settings for your car (call holden) then turn the switch in the glovebox.. |

| that would probably be the easiest way. I was hoping to find one at a wrecker, only the wreckers here (Bendigo) would probably have an arm and a leg as payment. |

My interpretation of what you are trying to do is you want to replace your old remote with the later model remote as part of the key. Do you want to use the same imobilisation system as the later models with the ring around the ignition and the chip in the key or use the system you already have?? Now if you want to use the existing system it should be possible as it uses the signal from your remote to unlock the car and to deactivate the immobilizer where as the later model unlocks the car with the remote and then uses the chip in the remote and the ring around the ignition to send a signal to deactivate the immobilizer.
What I am trying to get at is if you have a friend that is good with electronics or works at holden I cant see why you could not match the unlock signal from your old remote to your new remote.
In my opinion it can be done it just depends how much effort you want to put into it. |
What's the difference between understeer and oversteer? Understeer is when the driver is scared. Oversteer is when the passenger is scared. |

I realy dont think its as easy as your all sayin for the fact that the ignition is different, even swapping the ignition duh wound make a crak ho of difference for the fact the vn ecm is diff and wouldnt recognise the vr-ve key code!So when some 1 can over ride this let me know! give it a crak but dont cross your fingers! And swapping ecm,s wont help either and we all know that!
