Guys- I've started work on a detailing guide that will hopefully cover many aspects of car care that are often overlooked and introduce some of you to a few things that you wouldn't have been doing in the past.
For ease of writing it and also for reading, I've broken it down to three sections at this stage: selecting products, actual washing and common faults and corrections including paint defects and how to fix them.
For curiousities sake, I'm interested in how much detail I should be going into. What does your normal car care routine look like- ie how often do you wash? Polish & wax? Do the interior and engine bay?
As an aside from that, what products do you use? I'm not so much interested in what brands but rather whether you use a series of polishes / waxes, and what specialised products get a run such as wheel cleaners, tyre blacks, interior protectants etc.
With a bit more idea of what your guys are doing I'll have a better idea about how best to write it up.

All the stuff you said in my cleaning post was really helpful. I bumped it up just in case you didn't remember.
FYI- at the moment I'm lazy and for the outside of my car I spray with hose, Wash it and rinse it.
Then for the interior I get a plastic bag and pick up any big bits of rubbish..lol If I had time I'd do it properly but ATM I couldn't be stuffed..
Maybe write up a really basic quick cleaning guide thingo. Oh and what to do when stuff is spilt or stained in the car.
My daughter projectile vomited in the car last Friday over everything, the car seat, the seat, the floor, the back of the seat all the stuff on the floor (we were going away) It was 4 days until I got to clean it properly and by then it was putrid. I cleaned the carpet and stuff the best I could and sprayed it with so much Glen 20, I started to feel a little dizzy. Because it was left so long it has really soaked into the entire car. Getting rid of that smell will help me heaps. Even the smell of my new dog didn't cover it a little bit! |
