Hi guys i put in a new starter motor in to my 3.8l vn commodore auto today and went to start it, and all it does is clicks like the battery is flat i tryed 2 other batterys my mates battery and my old mans battery, but the same thing happens it will click and everything will lose power ,like the stereo will turn off then on and same with the interior light ,it has me stuffed what could be wrong with it im thinking about calling up a auto elecy tommorow , any help would be good cheers guys.

| this may sound silly but have you got it hooked up properly???, because you could be making a dead short when you tip the key? |

| Yea man hooked it up properly there was only one wire to go on the starter motor , i got a racq guy to come look at it he turned the bottom crank pulley and we got it started but now its making a bad rattle noise , he said it sounds like it is a rod so im going to get another engine put in to it cheers for your help guys . |

What's the difference between understeer and oversteer? Understeer is when the driver is scared. Oversteer is when the passenger is scared. |

| I was thionking the alt as well , reason being is when I did my last engine swap I used a half a s1 harness a nd half a s2 (hence I had to wires going to the alt) basicaly I hooked 1 of the alt wires up and it started and then died as quick as it started, I ended up hotwiring the alt wires togetherr and it was all sweet , as for the knock that is never a good thing ( usualy terminal) and as vnsvle said welcome m8 ... cya on the boards.. |
