i recently done my inlet gasket with some forma gasket now when i go to fill the engine with coolant it runs through the sump is this because i need to put a proper gasket on or ???
You have to remember that anything that usually has a gasket on the cooling system, has one because it's under pressure. I know forma gasket works well on things like rocker covers, and sometimes sumps too, but I would use it to help seal a gasket on a seal like that. I may be wrong, but that's my understanding of it. Whenever my boss at the roadhouse changed something like a water pump, or anything that had coolant going through it, the gasket was sandwiched between two layers of sealant.
thanks mechknight i was figuring i may have buggered up there but hey we learn by our mistakes thanks for the help :) will look at the prices for them cheers
Only if you left the coolant in long enough to let something rust lol. Just make sire everything's clean before you put it back together, and it shouldn't cause any real trouble. It takes more than just a little water to kill one of these engines
