Thermostat should be simple. Undo the two bolts and the radiator hose holding it on, then gently tap the housing. The thermostat is the component inside. Lift it out and take note of the O rind and/or gaskets. The thermostat goes in spring side down, and if it doesn't fit like the one it replaces, ask questions. Next, clean the contact surfaces where the gasket was. Apply a decent sealant, fit the gasket and tighten it down.

For the radiator, unplug the thermo fan (there should be a connector with orange and green wires leading into it) undo the fan mounts, and remove fan and shroud. Next, undo the radiator hoses, and unclip the trim on the top of the radiator. Unsure, but I think the radiator is held in at the sides by spring mounted clips. There are pins on the tanks of the radiator that these go into. Carefully work them loose, and lift the old one out. Reverse the process to get the new one in.

Once the radiator, the hoses and the fan shroud are back together, fill up the radiator. There is a small bleed valve on the top of the thermostat housing. Open it, get the engine to operating temperature, and fill until is comes out of that bleed hole. Tighten it down again, and check for leaks all round.

Note: while the radiator is out, and the thermostat housing is off, look inside the pipes. If it's a rusty brown, you will likely need to do a chemical flush, the get rid of the rust particles that clogged up the old one

thanks so much mechknight for that, very clear, i was just wondering what's the deal with the o-ring? and or/gaskets, are these essential? and im geussing i can buy the sealant in the same place..

with the radiator, i just wanted to clarify, i open the bleed valve, let it run with the new coolant in and fill with new coolant until coolant comes out of the bleed valve?

much appreciated for that.

That is correct with the bleed valve (with the motor running) :)

I've forgotten whether the V6 has a gasket or an o ring. Either way, you have to be sure it will seal under pressure; if in doubt, replace it

Gaskest are essential for a pressure seal. Without them, you may as well be taking a leak on a bushfire. Sealant is only meant to assist a gasket in sealing, not form a gasket.
