First basic things to change; exhaust, chip, intake. Headers feeding into a free flow exhaust, a better management chip in the ECU, and a cold air intake. You can source one from the HSV-spec VR Club Sport, or build your own.
Gearbox: you could upgrade to a Borg-Warner T5 and mess with the ratios. Same goes for diff ratios.
Electrical tweaks: I know this sounds incredibly daft but it does work. Go through every electrical sensor, cable, connector and plug, and "tighten down" all of them; in other words, make sure they aren't just connected, but super-firm. If they're loose, you can sometimes "build up" the terminals with solder.
For racing, I'm probably stating the blindingly obvious when I say send it to Jenny Craig; ditch every gram of weight possible that you don't need for racing. |

If this car is "strip or circuit" only, you could go so far as replacing all the glass with Lexan plastic (perspex, less weight again), played with the arodynamics a little (get the right balance between downforce and slipping through the air) use bigger and/or better injectors. |

The next thing on your to do list mate is an adjustable strut brace, new stiffer bushes, lowered springs and shock absorbers, adjustable rear trailing arms, mitsubishi magna 3.5 litre v6 injectors (ultrasonically cleaned out), thicker spark plug leads and irridium plugs then some taller diff gearing between 3.45 & 3.7... |
