Unsure as to whether Holden still do it, but back when speedos were mechanical drive, the little plastic gear on the end of the shaft was a different colour for each different diff ratio available. It didn't matter whether it was a 3 speed, a Trimatic, a TH350 or 400, or an Aussie 4 speed. They had a similar type of gear, so as to calibrate the speedo.
Each Commodore will have an ID code stamped on the compliance plates for what kind of rear axle. For example, mine is a standard V6 Exec with a stock TH700 auto. The compliance plate designates this as GU4; limited slip, 3.08:1. I haven't changed anything in its driveline since it rolled out of the factory. If nobody here knows what the other codes mean, just ask any Holden parts dealer, and they will be able to give you a straight answer. |
