Hello again, after the coil packs i thought i might be in the clear but apparently not. In the last couple of days when ever i have really stuck the boot in to the old VN it kicks back fine but then nothing, i can hear the motor revving as hard as ever, but it accelerates like im on quarter throttle (if that).
I was thinking maybe there is a lack of oil in the gearbox, so that the torque converter may be slipping? I dont know so thats why i am here to ask if anybody has the answer.
( i have not checked the oil yet as i need someone to push down on my bonnet to pop it) thanks

I would be checking the oil first off. Check level, colour and smell. If level is down this may be your problem but if the oil is dark (supposed to be a clear reddish colour) and smells burnt then you have major issues |
What's the difference between understeer and oversteer? Understeer is when the driver is scared. Oversteer is when the passenger is scared. |

There's another one to check; the valve body of the transmission. If it is sticking, it may have trouble shifting up, but not necessarily down. Gently tug on the throttle cable, and see if you feel a "click." I was told this by an auto transmission mechanic; the valve body on a TH700 will sometimes stick. You can have it fitted with a spring to help it not do that, but VNSLE's comment is more valid. If you don't have enough oil in the box, it will play up even worse. Also, check under the car and see if your sump pan is leaking. If it is, check the tension on the sump pan bolts. Sometimes it's just as simple as sitting idle for an extended period of time. The gasket is made of either neoprene or cork rubber, and expands when it comes in contact with oil. Sitting idle, it has no contact with said oil, so shrinks again |
