Can Somebody tell me why my car head unit keeps resetting itself after i turn off the accessory switch ??(by taking out the keys)is there a problem with my wiring or do i need the constant power wire connected to something else(Is the constant power wire the orange wire in a vn 88 commodore?? because basically i have Red wire which is connected to power for head unit.Yellow for accessories and black on head unit connected to a negative charge is there a wire that is from the car's wires suppose to keep settings from resetting ?? Cheers

Your Yellow lead is supposed to be power, it keeps all your settings. Black is supposed to be ground. Red is supposed to be your ignition power, so the unit will only turn on when the key is turned. It should be that on pretty much all head units (the ones I've looked at)

If you've switched ur power cables around, it might explain why it keeps resetting.
Those 3 cables should be all you need to keep it running, check you got them wired correctly.

I wouldnt know unless I looked at your info manual, and was actually there.
But from past experience, With Alpine, Pioneer, Kenwood and Sony, all have been as I stated. Unless you really know what you're doing, I would reccomend taking it to an installer, or depending on your deck, you can get attatchments that you can just plug straight in. Costs about $30

The standard VN plug has the ignition and constant power on top of each other. Formula, if they are both plugged into one, split them up and move them into the 2 slots. When I get home I'll provide pictures on how the basic wiring should be set up for a head unit.
