hey guys have been offered a vr engine and 5 speed as a trade for an ecotec motor and im told the vr motor is a stroker, is there any way to tell if this is so without pulling off the heads or sump? engine is still in a car that has had a front hit.
Cant really be done accurately with the heads on sorry buddy. Only way other than heads off or sump off I can think of is if he has receipts for all the work done and you can check with the joint that did the work.
What's the difference between understeer and oversteer? Understeer is when the driver is scared. Oversteer is when the passenger is scared.
With the engine in the car it would be easier to pull the heads. But if you pulled the engine the sump would your best bet. You should be able to get some numbers off the crank and possibly rods that would tell you what it is. Another alternative is put it on a dyno and see what sort of figures you get would probably give you an idea if anything has been done.

have to pull the motor out coz the shell is totalled but yeah pulling off the sump is a good idea, thanks guys. will be a couple weeks till it gets here but will let you know how it goes might be a good motor for the skid rig and use the box for another project.
